Gene Lebrock is an Emmy-nominated producer, director, composer, and creative executive with over two decades of leadership across film, television, live events, and digital media education. He is the CEO of CityFilmz, a creative production company focused on high-impact storytelling at the intersection of film, music, culture, and human experience.

Gene’s career spans large-scale broadcast events, documentary filmmaking, narrative content, and branded media, where he is known for combining strong creative vision with disciplined production execution. He has produced, directed, edited, and composed for complex multi-camera productions and long-form projects, consistently delivering under tight deadlines and budgets while maintaining cinematic and musical integrity.

Prior to founding CityFilmz, Gene spent nearly 20 years in senior leadership roles within higher education and professional production environments. As Chair of Digital Cinema at a major design university, he built and led a WASC-accredited Bachelor of Arts program, growing enrollment from a small cohort into one of the largest digital cinema programs in the country. His curriculum design and industry-aligned leadership resulted in significant increases in student engagement, graduate placement, and alumni success across film, television, music, and streaming platforms.

In parallel, Gene served as Executive Director of Content and Strategy for a live-event and broadcast division, overseeing Emmy-nominated productions and leading multidisciplinary teams across production, post-production, motion graphics, and music. His operational leadership improved production efficiency, reduced rework, and elevated creative consistency across large-scale televised events.

As a musician and composer, Gene brings a rare depth of musical intelligence to his storytelling. A graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Theory and Composition, he has worked professionally as a drummer and composer, integrating original music and sound design into many of his film and live productions. This dual background in music and film uniquely informs his approach to rhythm, pacing, and emotional narrative.

Through CityFilmz, Gene is currently developing and producing documentary and narrative projects with a focus on music, healing, creativity, and the human condition. His work explores how art, sound, and storytelling can create meaningful change, with projects aimed at premium platforms such as Netflix, PBS, and major streaming outlets.
